Conservatorships
A conservator is a person who is appointed to care for another person, the conservatee, who is physically and/or mentally unable to care for themselves. A conservator is generally a person who is close to the conservatee, such as a family member or friend. The purpose of a conservatorship is to protect the converatee from any physical and/or financial harm.
Conservatorships take form in two general ways: Conservatorship of the Person and Conservatorship of the Estate. While the former is responsible for the general well-being and health of the individual placed under conservatorship, the latter is responsible for managing the finances and property of a person who is unable to do so.
